Florida weather is a perfect reason to get out and do something great. Volunteering is big in the state, and support for organizations that make a difference is one way you can become a true Floridian.
The fall Girls on the Run 5K takes place in Miami, with hundreds of people dedicated to helping fulfill the mission of the organization. According to the official GOTR site, the run helps to "inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experienced-based curriculum which creatively integrates running," girls from grades 3 through 8 become part of something that can change their lives while you get to be a participant too!
Whether you want to donate money or participate in the run, it truly makes a difference in the lives of these young girls who desire to make an impact in their lives. From all walks of life, this organization brings them all together to stand for something bigger in their lives, learning values they can use now and in the future.
Interested in doing even more? There are opportunities to not only volunteer, but you can become a coach for one of the teams. What better what to become acclimated with the area, spend time with a lot of friendly folks and explore a different side of Miami? The Girls on the Run program embraces a curriculum that teaches life skills that will help them develop self-confidence and foster healthy relationships that empower them now and in the future.
As a newcomer to the area, it’s important to get out, meet people and explore new interests. This is a perfect way to do all three while having fun and giving back. There’s nothing like networking in South Florida and Miami especially, because you never know who you’ll see or get to meet. Although there are a number of celebrities in the area, it’s not a place where residents are star-struck, it’s a place where those celebrities come and join the fun like regular people.
If you were on the fence about making a move, here’s just another reason why our weather, water and beautiful homes make this a place many people want to call home.
